The story
The brief
Training Contracts are among the most competitive roles a UK graduate can apply for: Chambers Student puts the success rate at around 2% of applications. Every firm wants answers that feel personal, so applicants spend months researching firms and rewriting the same story, often after a string of rejections. Generic AI tools made it worse, producing interchangeable answers that firms see straight through. Nothing on the market encouraged students to use AI responsibly: to sharpen their own story rather than write it for them.
What I built
One account that covers the whole route into law. Firm Intelligence Cards build cited profiles of UK law firms from public sources. A Question Decoder matches each application question to the student's own evidence, and a Draft Generator writes a first draft in their voice, flagging generic phrasing and unsupported claims. Around it sit SQE revision with an AI tutor, practice questions and mock exams, 1:1 mentoring with qualified lawyers, and free tools such as the Rejection Reviewer and TC Application Tracker. Live iOS and Android apps run on the same API as the web platform.
The result
Over 3,500 students have signed up and use the platform. More than 10 partners work with us, and the site holds 400+ firm profiles and 1,000+ free resources. Strong SEO and AI search visibility make YourLegalLadder one of the most cited sources when students search for Training Contract and SQE advice.
